Hey, all

This may not be relevant, but yesterday I upgraded two RPM's:

     util-linux-2.11f-11.7.1.i386.rpm
    openssh-2.9p2-8.7.i386.rpm

I was logged into my home account, and did an 'su -', then ran
Xconfigurator.
(I was trying to get my Monitor to go into powersaver mode, and was
following the
suggestions in bugzilla).

I got through the Xconfigurator menu's, and was able to see the 'Test
X11" screen.
When I clicked on 'OK' to acknowledge that I was able to see the test
screen, I got my
desktop back, but it was locked up. I tried a 'Ctrl-Alt-Backspace' to
kill the Xserver, but
it did nothing. I was able to login remotely and reboot the machine.
I can log into any account
through X11, except for my home account. Looking at /var/log/messages,
each time I try to login
as myself, I see:\

Oct 18 16:26:51 tux gdm(pam_unix)[5006]: session opened for user rkelsoe
by (uid=0)
Oct 18 16:26:51 tux gdm[5006]: gdm_slave_session_start: rkelsoe on :0
Oct 18 16:26:52 tux gdm(pam_unix)[5006]: session closed for user rkelsoe

Oct 18 16:26:53 tux gdm[5006]: gdm_auth_user_remove: /home/rkelsoe is
not owned by uid 0.
Oct 18 16:26:53 tux gdm[5006]: gdm_auth_user_remove: Ignoring
suspiciously looking cookie file /home/rkelsoe/.Xauthority

I have tried deleting my .Xauthority file, and each time I try to login,
it recreates itself.
I looked at the permissions on my home dir, and they look fine. My
userid is still the same in
/etc/passwd .

Can anybody tell me what I am missing, or how to correct this problem?

Thanks,
RK
