drives, and my media mirrored on 2 x 500GB SATA drives.

Ok, I've managed to get around the kernel panic.

I seem to be having the same problem as well. Has anyone found out what the
cause is, and how to fix it?

Ok, I managed to get my grub menu (and spashimage) back by following:
