Anyone know why my ZFS filesystem might suddenly start
giving me an error when I try to "ls -d" the top of it?
i.e.: ls -d /tank/ws/fubar
/tank/ws/fubar: Operation not applicable
zpool status says all is well. I've tried snv_139 and snv_137
(my latest and previous installs). It's an amd64 box.

Does "runat" let you see those xattr files?

I'm not sure, but I think there are people running NexentaStor on that h/w.
If not, then on something pretty close. NS supports clustering, etc.

I'm looking to upgrade the disk in a high-end laptop (so called
"desktop replacement" type). I use it for development work,
runing OpenIndiana (native) with lots of ZFS data sets.
These "hybrid" drives look kind of interesting, i.e. for about $100,
one can get:

Are the "disk active" lights typically ON when this happens?

I'd like to experiment with storing the boot archive
on a compact flash that emulates an IDE hard disk,
but then have the root pool on a 4-disk raidz set.
(I'm using OpenSolaris)
Anyone have suggestions on how to go about this?
Will I need to set rootdev in /etc/system to tell the
kernel the root

Has anyone figured out a way to make pfinstall work
sufficiently to just pkgadd all the packages in a DVD
(or netinstall) image into a new ZFS root?
I have a ZFS root pool and an initial root FS that was
copied in from a cpio archive of a previous UFS root.
That much works great. BFU works for th
I noticed two questions about Single instance storage (SIS) or de-duplication.
I'm curious too. Is there any activity that can be divulged here?

I'm seeing this too. Nothing unusual happened before the panic.
Just a shutdown (init 5) and later startup. I have the crashdump
and copy of the problem zpool (on swan). Here's the stack trace:

I'm trying a new install, creating a solaris partition in free space
(p3) which follows Windows XP (p1) and Ubuntu Linux (p2).
I want ZFS root, but the "interactive" installer (choice 1) on the
snv_90 DVD does not offer me ZFS root. Anyone know why?
or how to work-around the issue?
