[zfs-discuss] ZFS destroyed all my data

2007-07-10 Thread Tomi Vainio
Hi there! Failure of one disk destroyed all my data. Physical removal of broken disks caused zpool to make another disk to appear twice causing final data corruption. Everything was fine until broken disks c7t0d0 was removed. Is there any way to remove second c5t0d0 from pool which should b

[zfs-discuss] ZFS pool fragmentation

I have a huge problem with ZFS pool fragmentation. I started investigating problem about 2 weeks ago http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=34423&tstart=0 I found workaround for now - changing recordsize - but I want better solution. The best solution would be a defragmentator to

This fix plus the fix for '6495013 Loops and recursion in metaslab_ff_alloc can kill performance, even on a pool with lots of free data' will greatly help your situation. Both of these fixes will be in Solaris 10 update 4. Thanks, George ?ukasz wrote: > I have a huge problem with ZFS pool frag

We use TSM to backup our Messaging Server mailstores on ZFS. Tomas is right though, the TSM client doesn't recognize ZFS so whichever method you use, you just have to specify the path manually. We kick it off with cron but Tomas' method looks a little nicer. - Chris On 7/9/07, Tomas Ögren <[EMAI

As I have been grappling with how I will manage ZFS backups using existing enterprise backup tools (e.g. Netbackup), it seems as though two approaches continue to dominate: 1) Just use the POSIX interface like is used for UFS, VxFS, etc. This has key the disadvantage that it is not efficien

Another option is to set the TSM server to do a selective backup of the zfs filesystems. This is probably the least friendly of the solutions provided though ... personally I'm switching to Tomas' suggestion. Steve On 7/10/07, Christopher Gibbs <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: We use TSM to backup
