I think I advised you on the solaris forums to try some tests with two separate
ufs filesystems on the luns in question. Just to check that your hardware can
actually do what you think it can.
One other issue that might be confusing things. I believe the AMS is a non
symmetric array so LUN's ha
Hello !
Can you please share your experiences with ZFS deployment for Oracle
databases for production usage ?
Why did you choose to deploy the database on ZFS ?
What features of ZFS are you using ?
What tuning was done during ZFS setup ?
How big are the databases ?
Thank you,
Jay

Peter,
Can you send the 'zpool status -x' output after your reboot. I suspect
that the pool error is occurring early in the boot and later the devices
are all available and the pool is brought into an online state.
Take a look at:

Hi Rainer,
This is a long thread and I wasn't commenting on your previous
replies regarding mirror manipulation. If I was, I would have done
so directly. :-)
I saw the export-a-pool-to-remove-a-disk-solution described in
a Sun doc.
My point and (I agree with your points below) is that making a

Not really. There is also a "Dutch" version ;-)

zpool list doesn't reflect pool usage stats instantly. Why?
This is no different to how UFS behaves.
If you rm a file, this uses the system call unlink(2) to do the work which is
asynchronous.
In other words, unlink(2) almost immediately returns a successful return code to
rm (which can the

Yes, I realize. I did the response on your post because I was agreeing with
you. :-) I was just extending your comment by i

It is different now (although I spent about 5 minutes looking for an old
bug that would point to *when* the UFS change went in, I wasn't able to
find one).

I tried it and it worked great. Even cloned my boot environment, and BFU'd the
clone and it seemed to work (minus a few unrelated annoyances I haven't tracked
down yet). I'm quite excited about the possibilities :)
I am wondering though, is it possible to skip the creation of the pool and have
