Yes, it is. :-( Outlook 2011 on the Mac, which just came out, so perhaps
I'll get lucky and they will fix it..eventually.
n something else, such as
another 12-port backplane, is connected to one of the cascade ports in the
back?
What do you mean by a non-expander equipped LSI controller?
BTW, I have three SuperMicro SC846 systems, which 24-port backplanes, and
haven't any problem with them.

It sounds like you mean any low resource condition. Presumably, utilizing
complex pool structures like these will tax resources, but there are many
other ways to do that.

Does the write cache referred to above refer to the "Writeback Cache" property
listed by stmfadm list-lu -v (when a zvol is a target) or is that some other
cache and if it is, how does it interact with the first one?

A workaround is to create two pools each with your 1 vdev, make zvols for each
of them and export them via iscsi through the localhost interface. Then make a
third mirrored pool out of those two iscsi'ed zvols.

reports here seem to be implicating the card only when it was
connected to the backplane.

Did you get decent performance when you tested?

This method also allows one to nest mirroring or some RAID-z level with
mirroring.
When I tested it with a older build a while back, I found performance really
poor, about 1-2 MB/second, but my environment was also constrained.
A major showstopper had been the infamous 3 minute iSCSI timeout,

I was also trying to build a Cheapo-HA-NFS-Cluster using zfs

with a patched version of unfs3d. unfs3d is not as fast (and
reliable) as nfsd but it has one
big advantage: It works ;-) .

This is CR 649,

separate from the boot time timeout, though, and also one that Sun so
