Does it matter if the /dev names of the partitions change (i.e. from /
dev/dsk/c2t2250CC611005d3s0 to another machine not using sun hba
drivers with a different/shorter name??)
thanks

Folks,
If I have a mirrored configuration, I can add hot spares to the pool
and if a mirror should fail, zfs will automatically replace the
failed drive with one of the hot spares. Is this correct?

Folks,
Would it be wise to buy 2 jbod box and place one side of the mirror
on each one? Would that make sense?
Also, we are looking at SATA to FC to hook into our san. Any

In a raid config, you can have hot spares in case a drive goes back.
Is replacing a mirror the only way to do similar?

Folks,
I've heard that for small reads/writes (like a mailstore), mirroring
is preferred to raiding. Can some explain why or direct me to that
info? I assumed that raidzn would be the preferred method but
apparently not.

Folks,
Let's say you have a box that dies with zfs filesystems from a san on
them (a mirror config) and so you can't export the fs. Can you move
the fs to a new box? How so?

Folks,
We are in the process of purchasing new san/s that our mail server
runs on (JES3). We have moved our mailstores to zfs and continue to
have checksum errors -- they are corrected but this improves on the
ufs inode errors that require system shutdown and fsck.
So, I am recommending
