Answer is:
# zpool import
(which will pick up the zpool on the HDD and lists its name and id)
# zpool import rpool
(rpool is default opensolaris zpool)

How can I access a zfs partition on the HDD, if I boot up via the 2008.05
LiveCD?
I installed opensolaris on my computer. But the system has gone screwy and will
no longer boot. I have to retrieve some files from the filesystem...
