Support for thin reclamation depends on the SCSI "WRITE SAME" command; see this
draft of a document from T10:

I spent some time searching the source code for support for "WRITE SAME", but I
wasn't able to find much. I assume that if it
Hello,
We have a StorageTek FLX280 (very similar to a 6140) with 16 750 GB SATA drives
that we would like to use for disk-based backups. I am trying to make an
(educated) guess at what the best configuration for the LUN's on the FLX280
might be.
I've read, or at least skimmed, most of the "ZF
The software that we use for our production backups is compatible with ZFS. I
cannot comment on it's stability with ZFS or ability to handle multi-TB
filesystems, as we do not have any ZFS systems in production yet. I can say
that overall, the software is solid, stable and very well documented.
A new driver was released recently that has support for ZFS; check the Coraid
website for details.
We have a Coraid at work that we are testing and hope to (eventually) put on
our production network. We're running Solaris 9, so I'm not sure how comparable
our results are with your situation. An
