Since we are talking about the Strategy Document, please let me remind
that performance is still one of our focuses. Just not in the same way
than before.
In my opinion, the ultimate question about any new feature or inclusion
is if it's worth using the extra system resources for that. And tha
Mousepad is that option.

In our voted and accepted strategy document we state:
"Xubuntu does not explicitly target users with low, modest, or high powered
machines but instead targets the entire spectrum. Xubuntu's extra
responsiveness and speed, among other positive traits, can be appreciated
by all users, regardless of

On several years old laptop with Intel IGP, Unity and Gnome3
desktop performance is clearly subpar [1], while Xubuntu works
fine.
I would say that
I stopped to use Ubuntu because of Unity although it was presented as a more intuitive
way to use a computer : it is worth for me. Kubuntu is too big and has a lot of
"bloatwares". I would like to still have an easy to use distro. For example, a
window list bar offers less cognitive effort. It
I think that the added value of HUD its the road that Xubuntu wants to
take, we have already decided that we are not a linux distribution targeted
to older or low resources computers, if our system works there then
excellent, but it should not be our commanding goal. In that aspect HUD

Hello,
What is the additional load of HUD ? I mean HUD has a lot of magic... which
needs processing resources. I my case, I just want something which works. I
known which tool to use when I need to perform an action. I appreciate
automatic tiling of windows, etc because it is something painfu
I get that part but leafpad is just TOO light. Why can't we have something
at least a bit more powerful?

the main reason we go against gedit is it's a lot heaver, leafpad or
mousepad is very light.

What is your use case for a text editor? What do you want it to do for you?
From there you can then start to consider the other options in the archive.

Hi, I'm new here but I've been using Xubuntu since Unity.
Anyway, I can agree with all the points above except Leafpad. Why does it
have to be Leafpad? I know gedit is gnome but why not something as powerful
as that?

Mousepad 0.3 is not bad. I'm working on it now despite the somewhat insane
coding style...
Gmusicbrowser needs media key support when in the background.

Dear All,
I would like to point out some software in Xubuntu 12.04 to be kept for
future Xubuntu releases:
- gThumb quick image tweak and view and really easy to use.
- Ristretto wonderful to view images.
- Catfish the most effective search App I've seen so far.
- Gmusicbrowser simple but powerfu
