I am trying to bring up a kiosk on an ubuntu 16.04 server install (see log
file below), to avoid gnome and accompanying complications.
NOTE that this command works just fine as root!
/usr/bin/xinit /usr/bin/chromium-browser --window-size=1920,1200
--no-sandbox --kiosk --no-first-run --no-default-b
