It's probably because no one sane uses Xft directly nowadays. Xft alone is not
sufficient to display modern text, you need a shaper such as pango (dir

I want to enable my secondary Matrox card, which cannot be used by default.
I have tried to autoconfigure an xorg.conf, which failed to work (X won't
