I surmise that it's going through printf (or family) at some point and the
%i is being interpreted as a formatted parameter. Double the % signs to fix
it.
I admit I can't see where this is happening in the current code. Which
version of WiX are you using (including the build, e.g. 3.0.3829)?
Timestamps are not recorded in the MSI File table and the timestamps in the
CAB are only used to write the created/modified timestamp when a file is
installed.
The only things that are used to decide whether a file is replaced are the
file version of the installed file, the Version column of the F

i am having this same problem...
e.g.
my installer is call "Something" which gets installed to c:\Something. I
have got sub directories within this directory. Each subdirectory has a few
more directories and subsequently lots of files(about 50 files) in each
subdirectory.
