Create a verbose log (e.g. using msiexec /l*v). That should show what the actual error was. You should avoid using the .NET Installer classes - managed custom actions are a bad idea (see http://robmensching.com/blog/archive/2007/04/19/Managed-Code-CustomActions-n o-support-on-the-way-and-heres.asp
