Hi there,
I do have a problem setting a property by the element filled
with a text from a locale file, cause it contains a new line.
Is there a way to escape the \r\n in the locale file so I can use it in
the element?

take a look at the WiXNetFxExtension. It will determine the available

Hi,
I need to manipulate a string, stored in a property.
Fist I was thinking about using a custom action read one property and
writing the result of the string manipulation to an other one.
The problem that I discovered is, that the string, which has to be
manipulated, is a result of a registr

Hi there,
I try to extract the self-register information for a COM file written
with VB6 a long time ago.
If I use regsvr32 to register the file manually on Win7 64-bit it works
fine. But when I try to extract the information using heat with the
following command line, just the file tag is gen
Hi again,
I solved the problem by creating the same directory structure used to
create the initial installer. The files can then be found by pyro and
the patch is created as expected.

Hi there,
I have a problem when I try to create a patch using torch and pyro.
What I did until now:
I saved the wixpdb files from the initial installer becaus I read it was
recommended to do so. Well, I did...
I created a new installer.msi with some changed files along with all
other files pac

Hi there,
I just started using burn as bootstrapper application to install a
specific java jdk if it is not present before an application will be
installed. Here is the code I use (it only contains the jdk):

Well, I guess I understand the implications.
That brings up my next question. Is it possible to define a component like
and have all subfolders and files added to the msi package? Or do I have
to specify each file like
Hi there,
I am very new to WiX and I ask me if it is possible (recommended) to
define multiple files in one component?
Unfortunately I have to create a msi for about 4.500 files and in my
opinion that might be 7 or 8 components to install.
So is it ok to combine a thousand files in one compone
