[WiX-users] sql:SqlDatabase and Windows XP SP3

2012-10-29 Thread Eric Potter
In my installer, there is a sql:SqlDatabase that gets created during the install. This works perfectly on Windows 7. But on a Windows XP box, the database is not created. The odd thing is that I can't find anything in the log file that would indicate why the database wasn't created. Are there any

Make sure you are building the same solution configuration|platform on both machines. My guess is that a different solution configuration|platform is selected (active) on the different machines resulting in a different subset of projects getting built. Perhaps one has the AnyCPU platform selecte

2012-10-29 Thread Neil Sleightholm
Thanks for this it made me realise what I needed to do. For info, the hash is the windows install default way of writing the dword type and WiX overrides this; what I missed was that I set the type to integer so what WiX did was append a # to the value so it was now ##1 which means it was writ

Re: [WiX-users] Installing Windows Service using WiX

Why do you need it "after" the service starts? MSI creates directories, copies files, writes registry, creates services and starts services in that order because it makes sense. You could override the default sequence and write registry after starting services but that would be for all regis
