I´m trying to make a CustomAction that calls an executable existent in
end-user´s computers, that uses as parameter, a file in the wix package.

That version was released six months before WiX v3.5 RTM. Try the RTM
build and see if the problem still occurs.

I am trying to write a new MSI for our only dll. The Wix version is 3.5.1932.0.
I am trying to gac this dll and this is a 4.0 binary. I checked some forum
answers and found that I need to add the following line in the light.exe.config
file

I have a situation where on one machine the installer creates the shortcut
entry for my application on the Start Menu but it doesn't on another.
In both cases, the application installed ok - no errors in the verbose MSI
log.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

Personally, I would note the bug in the bug database and tell people to not do
that behavior until it is fixed. If the bug is really blocking you, adding a
comment explaining why you need it fixed helps us realize that the bug is worse
than maybe we thought it was.

name), in the shortcut, but I'll experiment further, and also with your
