Just tested your patch with gtk+-2.20.1 on 10.6.x
It doesn't seem to fix the bug reported by Gabriele Greco. ( tested with the
small example posted on https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=502997)
Maybe this is why it has not been integrated ...

To test this patch you need ige-mac-integration version 0.9.2
Currently there are two port of ige-mac-integration in MacPort (0.8.2 and
0.8.6), but this version are too old :/
I can suggest a path to the macport team to update or create a new port ...
