For Unix developers: I just removed aclocal-fallback/glib.m4 and gtk.m4
from the trunk, since the development version of Wireshark (1.1.x) only
works with GTK and GLIB v2. These removed files were leftovers from
when we supported GTK/GLIB v1. They will remain, however, in the stable
tree (1.0
Very cool, I'll have to try it when I get home. Next big step would to make
it a self-contained binarily-distributable appbundle =)

The native MacOS X GTK port is now in beta and a easy to install
framework is available from http://www.gtk-osx.org. I've found an easy
way to compile Wireshark with it to make it a native OS X application
with only a few limitations found so far (the Wireshark logo isn't
showing up and menus
See attached. Note that I made very quick changes just to get it to compile.
I leave it to you to clean up the dissectors as you see fit ...

OK, thank you... this is very weird. You said you applied some changes
in the dissectors in order to compile without the warnings. Could you
send them so that I can test them here? This way I'll be sure if it's
a Linux issue or a dissector issue.
best regards,

Yes, all 3 show up in the protocols list. But I'm currently having some
unrelated trouble with the latest SVN, so I was only able to test it against
Wireshark 1.0.3. And keep in mind that I'm working on Windows XP, not Linux.

Hello Christopher,
Did you check if the dissector shows up after you install it?
Because if it's ok for you, then I should try on another
system/configuration.
best regards,

On Windows, Wireshark looks for plugins in two places: its installation
directory ("$INSTDIR\plugins\$VERSION
Hello All,
I am done creating a new dissector. I wanted to know how can I create a
installer package in windows which will install and uninstall only my
plugin.
Thanks,

What does xdpyinfo say? Make sure the RENDER extension is enabled.
Perhaps netcat (http://m.nu/program/util/netcat/netcat.html) is of some help.

Hello all,
Thx to Jaap and all others.
I have compiled wireshark now with GTK1 and GLIB1 and it works fine with very
less network traffic.
If anybody will have this Solaris sparc package, please send me a mail.
I can also provide the package for some web-pages

Hi,
I need to test HTTP for such commands as PUT, GET, DELETE, POST,LOGIN, CONNECT.
How do I do this? I did a little search and thought telnet could be used to
test http. However I could not find any suitable information on testing HTTP.
I am afraid this is not the right forum for a question on H
Hi,
I guess that the GTK1 version is less 'X intensive' than GTK2. So Wireshark
1.0.3 (GTK+ 2.12.0) is more intensive than Wireshark 0.99.3a (GTK+ 1.2.10).
Have a go with the GTK1 build of Wireshark 1.0.3 and see what happens then.
Thanx,
Jaap
