I found a good workaround. Basically, the following commands did the job
without scanning or restarting the wlan0 interface.
root@n1_iwl_vm:~ # ifconfig
lo0: flags=1008049 metric 0 mtu 16384

Well, my above workaround may not work. I tested it multiple times. Sometimes
it crashes or sometimes it works. :(

Testing on Thinkpad T16 with "Alder Lake-P PCH CNVi WiFi" which shows up as
AX211 in some places.
No performance issues. Still pretty slow, as before. Performance was via
Ookla Speedtest as I don't have a system to use iperf3 for testing. Upload
speed was slightly lower and has always been much lo
