Hi,
To assign ipv4 decap for GTPu tunnel we need to assign IPv4 address to the
tunnel:
set interface ip address gtpu_tunnel0 10.9.9.9/24
but we cannot assign same address to more than one GTPu tunnel.
But if there are more than one tunnel (same SRC, same DST) differs but only by
TEID we cannot
Perhaps someone from MLNX can confirm, but this is what we received from
them...but we haven’t had a chance to verify yet.
Since DPDK 17.11 Mellanox PMD moved to work on top of upstream user space
libraries (rdma-core) instead of the Mellanox proprietary ones.
So the pr

Hi Avi,
I do not have direct experience myself but someone told me Mellanox DPDK driver
is broken with DPDK 17.11. You may need to rebuild VPP 18.01 with DPDK 17.08 to
get Melllanox NICs to work. Hopefully someone with direct Mellanox experience
can add more details.

Hi Ray,
The only thing missing with memif is TCO but that shouldn’t be a reason for
such a drop. I noticed you’re running a debug image, could you try with release
as well?

Hi Florin,
So I connected the two containers directly as Memif Master/Slave, taking
in VPP vSwitch completely out. Performance is double - but still is
pretty awful.
Could this be because I am not using DPDK under the hood in either

Hi Satish,
It’s important I think to make the distinction here between nodes and plugins,
Plugins are .so files, as Chris says, one cannot load these once VPP has
‘booted’. Nodes, which can be specified/contained within plugins, can be added
to the VLIB graph at any time. So, start VPP with all
We’ve talked about it a few times. It’s not inconceivable to add the ability to
load plugins at runtime but it would come with risks to stability and so quite
unlikely.
Being able to unload them at runtime is however a complete non-starter without
a herculean effort and even more serious risks;
Hello
I added 2 Mellanox Connectx-4 PCI devices to the whitelist startup.conf and
restarted VPP.
But don't see them in vppctl show interfaces
I can run other dpdk-apps w these interfaces without a problem.
Who can assist ?
Best Regards

Hi Ray,
Thanks for the pointers. But i would like to know is it possible to load
the plugin/nodes without restarting the VPP?
Thanks,
Satish.

Hi Satish,
Looking in the plugins directory as a good starting point.

Also looking at the sample plugin in the example directory

Hi Brendan,
It looks like all the search results from Mailman are now broken in
Google Search ...
e.g.

Will this be fixed - it makes searching the ML nearly impossible?

Hi Avi,
There may be a terminology issue here:
-vhost-user interfaces are used between VPP and QEMU for fast communications.
It doesn't involve Linux kernel at all.
-in VPP 18.01, we've added support for virtionet (tap v2 interfaces). In this
case VPP "plays" the usual role of QEMU. This new inte
Thank you Jarome
I'm working with LXC , but should be applied for docker as well
I can connect the container through a virtio-user port in VPP, and a tap
interface in kernel
But we pay for a vhost kthread that is copying data from kernel to user
space and viceversa.
Another option is to conn
