Same code compiles perfectly fine on ARM64 with newer gcc version.
If you are starting new development cycle it makes sense to me that you pick up
latest ubuntu release,
specially when new hardware is involved instead of trying to chase this kind of
bugs.

Well, at least the compiler tells you where to file a bug report. Hopefully
they respond quickly.
It might be interesting Eric if you can list here some of the other places
where you also see the error.
Just for fun, maybe try the function without the always_inline. Or write
out the inlined code
