Hi
I want to use Palm VNC which needs the VNC server to have Scaling Support
for full functionality. Plam VNC comes packaged with the server version 7 +
scaling support. Can I get version 9 with scaling support, or is it built
in?
Thanks

Hi Lana
Open the desired connection, then save the connection info, including the
password. You can now start the connection with the command line:
vncviewer -config [file you just saved.vnc]
You can, of course, make a shortcut to do this.

Hi
I have no experience whatsoever of building software from source code. I've
edited in the suggested tweaks for SCO Open Server, but what do I do with
the code now?
Is there a howto or some other easy guide that will help me here?
Thanks

Hi,
where can I get Tight VNC??

Excerpt from VNC Unix source readme:
First you must have a reasonably recent version of X installed (this
includes
/usr/openwin on Solaris machines). To build everything but Xvnc, do:
% xmkmf
% make World
What is xmkmf? Does this need to be successful before make World will w
I'm in the middle of this process too. I'm not there yet, but here's what
I've picked up so far.
You have to have a development kit installed. The SCO development kit will
only work if you pay for the license, or if you have the free version of
SCO. The alternative is to install the GNU developme
Another point! I have just spotted 'imake.c' in
vnc_unixsrc/Xvnc/config/imake.
Presumably you can compile this to get the 'imake' command.
And if anyone has any tips for that, I'd like to here them...

I could only get PalmVNC running by installing the version of WinVNC that
came with the PalmVNC package. Ie, v7 with scaling support. This works fine,
but don't expect it to be very useable on the Palm display.

Ah, I gave up on that one too. There is some software that can be downloaded
to make the process very simple, but there is a license fee. I think it's
$10. (Mocha PPP, or something)
It is supposed to be possible to connect up with dial-up server and direct
cable connection, but nobody seems to be
Microsoft's response to "dibeng" problems is that you should get the latest
graphics drivers. This worked for me when we had these problems with some
different software.

I've given up for a while. I got bogged down in trying to compile the tools
required to compile VNC. If I ever get there, I may document the process as
nobody else seems to have done so.
Cheers

Version 9 includes this option as standard. Just select it from the admin
tools menu.
