well I assume u r talking about win9x ...
i'm trying to hide it also... with no luck .
in the old vnc versions it was a simple config feature, now it's not.
it's not in the faq (there is only for NT) .
( I recall someone has made a patch for it though... )

program within this SSH connection .
if it will work I will post it Steve. good idea , keep on the good thinking

good for large domains.
I've modified the windows ADM with wallpaper disabling , 3.3.3r8.
I couldn't get to write binary values in
"RemoveWallpaper" is different function in the windows registry then the
"DisableActiveDesktop" ,
which maybe should be also considered to be added.
and yes, as the wallpaper , the active desktop is also an overhead.

hey all ,
I understood that the PortNumber setting in WinVNC (using .R9) is for the
general server.
is there a way to change the port number for the Java-http server ?

Hi Rudi .
First , I encountered the winamp problem also.
Second , problem with applications with "splash-screen" (as M$-IE5.5 &
M$-OutlookEx5.5..) .
if the app is autostarted by the VNCviewer , then the spalsh screen is
captured and not the app,
after that it captures random running app. disconne

Just can't get it to work ...
now I've tried through the Bash Shell :
" $ rfbproxy --server=10.0.0.3:1 -r rec.rfb "
.. . nothing happens
" $ rfbproxy --server=10.0.0.3:1 -c -r rec.rfb
RFB 003.003
Error during authentication "
... also I get output of the file rec.rfb with size of 1K
which OS r u using ?
if it's win9x/ME , than there is no such option .
if it's NT/2000 , than u can to run it as a service and remove the key of
"service help"

Got it working Finally !
By using CygWin1.dll ver 1.1.8. got the rfbProxy working over NT .
can be used by regular win32 command prompt.
works great !
Thanks Jonathan and Special thank to Francis VIVAT .
Ran Sasson.
p.s. does anyone know how to save (win32 env.)
a filename with date and time
that's why I agree with the concept of MUST having a taskbar icon .
the "big brother" in full action.
I think it's a condition that should be added to the license or something,
or else some rfb applications will be defined as viruses.

there is a logging feature within the VNC , esp. for debugging. check the
Documentation.
if u need to record sessions , then u need the rfbProxy. check the
contributed add-ons.

the problem is that this protocol can run on various ports,
so if the there was a hidden setup (virus like) of a vnc-like-app ,
and it runs hidden - than the system will be monitored
even via ports that you must leave open (bi-directional reasons).

Did you use the m$ generic vga driver or the intel's one ?
Did you try just to replace only the driver ?

Sorry James, it does happen. especialy in the followings:
if there is high CPU load on the server,
if the server side is very low memory,
if the connection speed is 56k and below.
if there are more than about 20 hoops
