vncviewer though a ssh tunnel from Windows2K doesn't work when the vncserver
is started with the -localhost option (The vncserver is running on a linux
box).
Is there any solution to this problem??
Without, it isn't usefull to use ssh as security.
I use the ssh client they recommend at URL:
http:
server is started with:
vncserver :5001 -localhost (will give port 5600+5001=10901)
1. (works)
if i use linux or other UNIX I do:
ssh -L 10901::10901
new consol:
vncviewer localhost:10901
This works like a dream...
2.
I use win2000:
start the secure shell with port forwardi
I using ttpro extention, and i'm now using the commandline:
/ssh-L10901:remotehost:10901 remotehost
I get the connection and the forwarding.
Then I try to use the tunnel to connect to vncserver with:
vncviewer localhost:10901
I get an error that i didn't get from the other ssh program i used, i
It worked!!
why is it that the syntax is different.
Thanks.

Hihu,
Try something like this:
TeraTermProSSH
/ssh-L5901:localhost:5901
No spaces in my version of ssh on win, it's a diffirent thing with linux, it
would look like this even if you connect to the same server:
ssh -L 5901::5901
It's prob. something about the way your OS works with the adapter.
Yes...
cvncserver scripted is just a perl program, the line you want to look at
look like this:
system("$vncUserDir/xstartup >> " . "edString($desktopLog) . " 2>&1 &");
Have fun.

what about firewalls..?
Does you gateway function as a firewall?
If that is the case you have to open for vnc trafic (port 5901...).
