resolution, in my case 2048 x 768 as I have two 15" monitors running 1024 x

I get a similar problem, where the caps lock becomes inverted, often the
machine running the winvnc.exe server will have the caps light off, but it
will actually be in UPPER CASE mode, pressing the caps lock button turns off
caps lock but the caps lock light comes on.
It really confuses users.

I think you can make vnc ask "Accept connection from" when the viewer
connects.
