Unix password file problem

I'm running an Xvnc(3.3.2r2) on Irix 6.2, the problem is when i run the vncserver script it prompts me for a password, which i type in and then verify it. The server starts up. However when I go to logon with the viewer the authentication fails. There is no password file. The /.vnc/p
