You need to run VNC as a service. I suggest searching the VNC archives, as this has been discussed before. Otherwise try the following (this works on Solaris; don't know about other unix flavours.) : Add this to your /etc/inetd.conf # VNC vnc-640x480x8 stream tcp nowait root/vncpath/
