If you take the default settings, you'll need to have ports
5800 and 5900 opened - if I'm not mistaken. Depends on your
company's security policy.

The answer to your question is here. No, you can't hide the taskbar
icon without changing and recompiling the source code. As for the
legality of that, I'm not sure.
