What version of make are you running? Do you have gmake? Irix 6.5.0 is
pretty old and needs a bit of an upgrade. What does uname -a give?
Hopefully you're using Irix 6.5.14 or .15.

Also, if you have gmake 3.7.5 or later (latest is
Hi,
Recently, I downloaded the VNC unix sources to be installed in a SGI
machine(Octane) running the operating system "Irix64 release 6.5". It's has
been a smooth installation until I try to "make World" for Xvnc. It returns
with the errors below:
cd ./config/makedepend && rm -f -r Makef
When using the java viewer, VNC defaults to "reliable" and "fast" works fine
for me. Is there a way to switch the default to "fast" to prevent having to
change every time I log on ?
Thanks in advance.

The overall issue you bring up here is a basic part of the growth of
"maturing" products: they begin to support not functions but *tasks*.
Functionally speaking, wanting file transfer is an entirely different
ballgame from wanting remote viewing ability. From the standpoint of
performing support
Why not just run Apple-Share and Samba on the linux box? Then you can
drag and drop to a common area on the Linux box from either the PC or the Mac.

Tiny niggle... my name is spelled incorrectly. :)

Anthony, you can't post it to the list - it yanks mime attachments. If you
want, email it to me and I will be quite happy to toss it up on our
webserver so people can access it.
As for usefulness: I don't know about Linux opinions, but I would kill for
that ability on WinVNC. I suspect that Lin
Hi kiran and Scott
First of all we are already developing a VNC server in pure Java (JNC)
Java is good IF you seek cross platform support
also, we use Java because we intend to implement a three tier, Web enabled
VNC system based on Java Server side technologies (JSP & Servlets)

I have a number of computers running regulat WinVNC. Can I simply stop
the VNC service, kill winvnc.exe vncviewer.exe, drop in the new EXE and
DLLs (Into the existing \Program Files\ORL\VNC directory) and restart
the serv
Hi,
I am new to the list and hope to find some help
with the following question.
We were faced with a problem of using Xvnc to provide
a single application to a significant number of users.
We were trying to deploy an industrial application that
would start every time a user connects to the Xvnc
Evan, I can watch the console on the Linux box as I run the Windows viewer. The
two are not connected at all, which makes sense if we assume they are supposed to
be different sessions. I have heard that multiple people can log onto the same
session remotely and all will see the same screen, but
Mike, I couldn't make this do anything for me, but I did find that though Nautilus
didn't show in the VNC window (display :1) it did show up on the console (ie. display
:0). Now I need to see how to get it to show up on the VNC display :x, whatever that
happens to be. Every other program I have
Hello,
TightVNC 1.2.3 has been finally released. I'm sorry for the delay, but
it allowed me to fix more problems, including that zlib "double-free"
issue.
New version is available from the usual place:
