Salute,
I'm an illiterate and using VNC 3.3.3R9. Please help me!
I have difficulty in connecting to the VNC server thru a VPN
from an outer Java based client (browser).
The situation is as follows:
(1) Server
Internet---Cisco 2503---VPN box---internal hubs---Win95(VNC3.3.3R9)

Hello,
Is there any way to edit/delete entries stored in the VNC Viewer 'VNC
server' list?
I can't seem to find any info on this in the Documentation/FAQ's, or program
options..
Any help is appreciated.

Tridia includes a compression scheme called "Tight" and other stuff that
doesn't strictly fall into the mandate/time load of AT & T UK labs staff.
Unfortunetally, at least until last week ;), the Tridia CVS code for tight
compression wasn't up to date with Const's stuff (see

I agree with all the tridia vs vnc(regular) comments. However, if you
really want to see a speed improvment, go to http://www.tightvnc.com and
download the latest beta tight builds for the server and client. The
new beta builds, which will hopefully get put into the next version of

I've never tried to benchmark it, but I've gotten the following impressions:
- If you use Tight over ssh, it's best to turn off compression. It doesn't
help and just increases the latency.
- Tight really helps over dialin lines, but over anything faster
Hextile+compression is faster and seems to
Is it just me or does Hextile encoding with SSH compression seem to work
better than any version of Tight?

One version of TridaVNC, at least, has a "Tight" encoding option that works
better over dialin lines than the standard Hextile encoding.

Subject: Silly Question...
Hey everyone,
I have a rather peculiar question, and I've searched both the archives for
WinVNC mailing list and TridiaVNC mailing lists along with any FAQs or other
outside links I could find, but did not find an answer..
So, here we go. I downloaded WinVNC a while back, and I absolutely love
I am with the following problem, I have a host with fixed IP 192.168.115.1
and I am trying to use the vncviewers in more than a machine at the same
time, if I specify the ip for instance 192.168.115.1 the program vncviewer
he usually enters, if I place 192.168.115.1:1 or 192.168.115.2 etc he alwa
You may have some luck asking TridiaVNC (www.tridiavnc.com) as they sell a
bundled version commercially plus support.

Subject: List of references using VNC
Hi all,

We are using WinVNC Version 3.3.3 R9 on our Lotus Domino Servers. We have
found that WinVNC can crash when trying to connect from another PC. This
can also hang the Lotus Domino Software. Does anyone know why this is and
any workrounds etc.
Many Thanks

If you're using port mapping, you'd have to give a specific port to each
machine, set VNC up on that machine to use that port and port map each port
number to each individual machine. That way you could specify which machine
on the internal network by using different port numbers. The IP address

of VNC. Been using it for 2.5 trouble-free years.

Hi all,
I am in the process of recomending my superiors for using VNC for our
product development. To convince them i need a list of references where VNC
is used.
Can I get a list of reference on some site etc.
Any help is highly appreciated.
Thanks and regards,

Hello,
This is my second try to get someone to port VNC to an ancient machine.
$ uname -a
HP-UX badboy B.08.00 A 9000/382 08000935d5ea
This machine is connected to an IC tester and we would like to use it
remotely. Note that we don't have perl installed, but I think 'cc' is.

Hello..
I have a problem with a couple of machines on our network. VNC service is
installed and working via the LAN, however when I try to connect to the
machines outside the LAN, the connection fails. Both machines are on a
static
routable IP, and have the password set. Both machines are Win9
which "version" are you talking about?? I've tried the latest code from
Tridia, which is supposed to have all this stuff incorporated. It has the
wallpaper patch in it, and it does in fact disable the wallpaper on connect.
However, on disconnect it restores the default user's wallpaper, not the
I dont quite know if this is going to solve your issue. Under Solaris
8, I do not have the problem you describe, and use "-query
localhost".
I can think of two things you can try if you want to continue to use
XDMCP: 1) -broadcast instead of -query. 2) -query <"real" IP address>
instead of -quer
If anyone can assist me in at least understanding how an XDM determines the
display name of the display querying it for management, I will be able to
come up with my own solution to the problems below.
Thanks in advance,
Shaddy
