I'm running VNC over a T1 based LAN. A few machines (maybe 1 in 20) are
having horrible speed issues. It is on the magnitude of 20 to 1 speed
difference. The mouse only refreshes once a second, screen paints are slow
enough that I could draw faster. An alternate screen sharing program (proxy)
has
PII 233, 128 mb ram, 4 gig SCSI hd, window 2K sp2. This is one of probably
75 machines. Of the 75, 5 of them are having trouble. This machine is the
worst of the bunch. Completely unusable.

like VNCDACC are pushing us in that direction.
It's also a factor of cost.

The PPC processor is used in many products. Windows was ported to the PPC
cpu years ago. If you look at a winnt cd, PPC is listed as a target. PPC
does not equal mac.

The lack of Backward compatibility is understandable. Not much of a point
having NT authentication if the server can choose to ignore it :
In order to set the password, you have to export a working password from the
registry of a already configured VNC server.
There is a utility on the website that can walk you through this. Regedit
does not export the values correctly, so that will not work.
