Does this mean that your two systems are NOT communicating with each
other?
or is it just the networking applics that are not working?

PS Why do you want to run VNC over NX? To get at the Windows system?

John,
Looks like you are not starting KDE when you start the VNC Server.
My VNC start up file looks like this and it works!...
>cat .vnc/xstartup gives me...
/#!/bin/sh
[ -r $HOME/.Xresources ] && xrdb $HOME/.Xresources
#xsetroot -solid blue
Michael,
What host file are you talking about?
under windows 2000+ it is in ...\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Satbir,
I have the same kind of setup at home. You have to set up your local
machines ( 192.168.1.64 and 192.168.1.65 ) to use a unique VNC screen
number.
Thus..
VNC1 Port could be 5901 (or screen :1 under Linux)
VNC2 Port could be 5902 (or screen :2 under Linux)
etc
You then program
these actions on your fathers PC.
In general it is not a good idea to interefere with Windows networking
services!!

What are you trying to do? Use VNC from office to home? If yes, then look
at these people - they provide an excellent way to get at systems that
connect to the net via allocated (hence dynamic) IP addresses:
http://www.no-ip.com - works for me!

From
reen #3 for this use - this is a general
entry point for my vncserver - the user vnc has VERY few priveleges - I
reserve another screen for my personal use and that screen gets turn on only
when I log in.
I am running Mandrake 9.1 - which, I think, is compatible and similar to
RedHat.
Good luck
