Want to connect to my workcomputer (VNC Server) from
home (VNC Viewer).
The workcomputer has a adslrouter with firewall and I
can configure it, but what should i do?
Port forward something?
I THINK I should open up for port 5900 only, the
router has port forwarding capabilities.
But what about o

In service pack? Would it be possible? I think it's most likely a tweak or
in admin kit. I've found that when a WinXP is inside a domain, the "fast user
switching" is somehow disabled. Or there's some obscure parameter to make it work
again?

If you don't like to read the DOC & FAQ in RealVNC official website, you could
take a look at Scott's fantastic FAQ :

You've not given enough info for us to help you. Are your server and client
computers are in the same network? Or is there any firewall/router/modem in between?
Have you changed any IP address accordingly?

Not talking about VNC, how about in normal situation? I mean, when you're in
front of Novell's console which is already in screen saver mode, if you "wake" it up,
do you have the same login screen popup?

Well, you've deleted your own message .. no idea what it's all about..
Is your Win2k behind firewall? Is your Win9x updated enough to include all
bug fixes? As to your Network Neighbourhood problem, if your Win9X could "see" your

That's odd? We are exclusivly XP Pro at work and have our own Domain.
BUT... for obvious security reasons I had to go through and set everybody
to "press to login" which seems to disable that function.
I've found the login stuff in XP in particular to start to get rather quirky
at times. It ma

You might want to try the latest TightVNC development version, which
supports file transfers in its Win32 version:

Has there been any discussion for VNC to support multiple passwords?
i.e. One for the user of the PC and different one for Support personnel
supporting the same PC?

Any chance the `F8 key` facility can be moved to another less used key? I got a

Hello
Follow-up to earlier posting.
Test: Switched off NIS SW firewall entirely on the home

Result: Exactly the same as before (when NIS SW firewall was on and
ports 5500, 5800, 5900 were open in both directions to WinXP box); same VNC

Basically:
VNC includes a HTTP server (by default port 5800). The sole purpose of
this HTTP server is to get the jav
Guys, I have an NT Server here running Service pack 6, when I attempt to

Peter,
It sounds like the problem may not be at home, but with your work. I
believe in an earlier post you mentioned something that let me to believe
that you are behind a proxy server (or perhaps a restrictive firewall, but
you are able to get the applet served so I vote for the proxy server)

Rasjid , Thank you for your comment.
I tried several different VNCviewers from different Linux sources.

I think you misunderstood. Novell is a dedicated file server, which is irrelevant to
this discussion. Like all our PCs, I login from my Win2k PC to the Novell server. I
install VNC server on my PC. When I startup my PC or wake up from screen saver mode
the login screen (Novell) pop
Hi all
It turns out that it was a user problem !! ?I had to register VNC server
service, but did not realise that each time I register I had to reboot for it
to take effect. Should have realise this windows 'feature'. Thanks for the
help.
