Hi
I have just started using VNC. I have problems when the VNC server is on
screen saver mode. Resuming from screen saver the Novell login appears on the
VNC server W2K system. However, at the viewer PC it simply accepts the VNC
server password and nothing is presented on the viewer screen.

You don't have that because he thought your VNC server is installed in WinXP,
which is not your case. WinXP has a function called "fast user switching" which isn't
in Win2k.
When you say "blank screen", have you waited long enough? Do you have this

It's not clear what you meant exactly.
OK, suppose you start VNC viewer and type in the server's hostname. Then you
should have a dialog to enter VNC password, right? After you've entered the _correct_
password, you should have a window displaying the content of server screen,
What do you mean by "failed"? Did you get the dialog asking for password? Or
did you get an error after entering the password? Or before having the dialog asking
for password? Or did you get the viewer window? Please specify clearly.

I'm trying to use vnc.so to connect to a linux console with dual
monitors (in Xinerama mode). In my logfile, I see:
vncext: VNC extension running!
vncext: Listening for VNC connections on port 5900
vncext: created VNC server for screen 0
vncext: Listening for VNC connections
Wait a moment, it's even worse. It's not clear at all. What have you done
exactly?
It seems that starting VNC in a Terminal Service session isn't working as
expected. You'd better get in the front of the console and start it there.

Folks-
I want to re-implement vncpasswd in perl (for various reasons), but
I need a bit of help. Any suggestions are appreciated:
Here's a sample perl script that can encode and decode a string:
===
#!/bin/perl
use Crypt::CB
Oh, but you can add fast user switching to 2K. It's either a service pack
or a tweak or "Plus" pack. I used it all the time up until about a year ago
when I switched to XP.

Hello all,
I am trying to restrict access to our VNC server through explicit IP
checking.
I read that a registry entry for "AuthHosts" can handle this, but I am
hesitant to mess with the registry as I have little experience with it and I
cannot risk bringing down our server.
Is there a utility t
The problem is that I don't have physical access to the server. This is the
only way I could get in to the server. What happens is that due to some
reason Terminal Services locks the connections and requires a reboot. Since
there is no monitor on that box, remote-hands has to go to the data center
Is it possible to assign a name to the VNC Host program?
Instead of using the computer name or the IP Address I would like to assign the logon
name.
Thanks.

You could name your computers just like the login name in DNS assuming
that you have only one user per computer.

I've crawled all over the documentation, and through a lot of the mailing
list (although admittedly not all), and cannot find what might be the
problem and thus no solution. Apologies in advance if the solution is posted
somewhere and I have missed it. Any suggestions what I might be doing wrong

Tom,
Upgrade to VNC 4b4, which is extremely stable and provides a GUI for this
functionality.
