hi all,
I want to use a solaris workstation as a vncserver and a pc (win2000) as a client.
When I connect to the server I get a new opened session but I do not have the control
of the session which was opened.
Do you know how to sort it out?
Thanks for your help.

Sorry, wrong "reply" button!
Unregistering, rebooting and registering again, then rebooting again did the
trick. I'll get the hang of this thing yet.
Thanks!

Hi,
I need to access VNC Server running inside a LAN behind a firewall from my
home.
I do not know how to use iptables to write the appropriated rules in the
firewall in order to let me reach VNC server.
That's what I have so anyone who wants may help

If you want to take control of what you see on the Solaris console
(monitor sitting at the machine) then you will need to use v4beta as it
has X0vncserver to take control of display zero (the console gui) and
Xvnc to give you remote virtual desktops.

Hello,
I'm a newbie in using VNC. I would like to control my home WinXP Pro machine

That would depend how tight/strict your school firewall is. Does it just
allow packets flowing through port 80? Does it care if the protocole through port 80
is http or not?
Maybe you could configure your VNC server to use port 80. Take a look at the
DOC/FAQ to see how this c
I recently built a new PC running RedHat linux 9.0. I'm trying to install
RealVNC on there, but no application shows up. The original TightVNC is now
gone as well. The RPMs still don't install anything after many tries. Any
help? I hope someone here understands me and knows what to do with this.

I'm using the Windows viewer version 3.3.7 on W2K talking to
Solaris VNC server version 3.3.6. I'm seeing the exact same
problem, but I have only a US keyboard. Periodically the keymapping
suddenly switches, and the # sign turns into the British pound
currency symbol, double quotes become @ signs,
There is nothing that resembles VNC in the 'Run Program' list and TitghtVNC
is no longer where it used to be (I think it was 'System Tools -> More
Tools'). And no error messages appeared while running the RPMs.

I download it and run it but it's not there. Where is it? Did I do it
right?
Just a little light humor. Hope I didn't offend anybody!

IIRC this is normal. Have you look into /usr/bin/ for vncviewer?
