Hi Robin,
I guess my confussion came from what you said about having
this service configuration for transient terminal use, that
is not what I prefer in the specific case of VNC. Again,
many thanks for your help and your explanation.

Daniel

tcp0 0 :::5900 :::*
LISTEN
tcp0 0 :::5901 :::*
LISTEN
tcp0 0 :::5902 :::*

Hi Robin,
None. There are no files in /tmp/.X0-lock nor /tmp/.X11-unix.
In fact I moved ALL files in /tmp somewhere else but the problem
still remains.

I have a related question to the group...
When my RHEL-4 server starts, VNC starts the sessions I have configured but
when I try to access them, all I get is a black screen. I must manually
shutdown and then restart the VNC services in order to have the sessions work
properly.
There does not
