Yes, I think it's Win2k-specific; all of the Win2k boxes I tried
exhibit this behavior,

Complying with vnc's GPL licensing makes a little sense too.

Are older versions of RealVNC such as 3.3.3 (for Solaris) vulnerable to
the new exploit?
I guess I'm using an old version on one of my machines because I compiled
against libwrap.a and I'm not sure how to do that again!

Hi Jaroslaw,
Yes, that's why we regard it as a significant remote access issue...

Hello
We are using VNC for Distance Learning and we sometimes have about 20
connection to one machine. Can anybody recommend the ideal machine (not too
pricey) that would be able to serve 20 people and eventually a few more?
Also, I was planning on putting a Windows based OS on this machine. Sh

Do I have a setting wrong?
I'm just trying to test the connection, are you allowed to connect as a

Hi Voor,
We've had several reports of this issue under Windows 2000 systems, which is
unfortunately caused by a serious memory leak in one of the operating system
APIs. We're preparing a workaround and hope to have a fixed release
available later today, or tomorrow.
Cheers,

As it was already mentioned here, the issue is actually a fact that anybody
who can connect to the machine could access the VNC server witho

Hi Jeff
Well I think you are correct (:
I did a search on redhat 6.2 and inetd and found several bug reprots
unfortunately these are old outdated redhat bug reports and the ftp
links to the fix packages
no longer exist
and I have not been able to find a redhat archival ftp mirror with the

Hi, here's a summary:
No matter what I do, I can't get Xvnc to talk XDMCP to gdm properly.
On Fedora Core 3 or Fedora Core 5.
I have tried everything I could think of, and some things I couldn't.
Essentially, it's like gdm never sees the XDMCP stuff, but tcpdump on
loopback shows they communica

For VNC 4.1.1. on HP-UX I noticed that xdpyinfo displays VNC-EXTENSION
among lot of other info.
So my test would be:

Hello,
I have stumbled upon a security flaw in VNC 4.1.1. It allows anyone to
access without a password. I would like to speak to someone without
revealing the problem on this group.
Thanks,
Steve Wiseman
I guess the new free version of RealVNC 4.1.2 fixes the security
problem that mentioned
Hmmm.
Interesting that the source is only available *after* the executable.
Is this a new definition of reverse engineering ;-)
