Hi John,
You are incorrect.
Resizing the desktop when using VNC Server for Windows is done by resizing
it in the normal way for Windows. Resizing X desktops is possible using the
XRANDR extension, which is something that we'll probably be adding support
for in VNC server soon.

Ronald,
You are using an old VNC 4 release - you cannot drag & drop (or "Open
With...") VNC files to VNC Viewer 4.0, but you can to VNC Viewer 4.1.1. VNC

of .vnc files either.

Ronald,
Are you sure that you don't have both VNC 3 and VNC 4 installed on the
computer in question? If you are running VNC Viewer 4 manually, saving a
.vnc file, but VNC Viewer 3 is registered to open .vnc files then you'll see
errors of this sort.

Ronald,
Please note that, from your previous mails, you appear to be using a rather
old VNC 4.0 release - you probably want to upgrade your viewer, at least, to
VNC 4.1.1.
We have not had any problems with saving .vnc files with VNC 4.1.1 reported.

I noticed that there is an option (greyed out) to use a mirror driver in
VNC4.1.1. Is this the same DF Mirage driver that TightVNC makes available?
If not, where does one get it and how does one go about using it if the
option is greyed out?
Thanks

The XP box running the the VNC server is a brand new

Ronald,
you can set VNC server to no password authentication mode via: Tray
Icon->Options->Authentication->No Authentication command.
As for the viewer's password command line switch, the /password switch is
supported by UltraVNC and TightVNC viewers, I'm not sure if RealVNC viewer
supports it.

"Save Configuration File to" is what you're wanting. It will offer to save
the password as well, This *can* be a security hole, even though the
password is encrypted, so you may or may not want to save the password in
the file, if you're using a shared PC.

I strongly advise against trying to run a VNC server with no password.
That should never be an option. It's one thing to save the password for
your personal viewer but it's not wize at all to open that up to the

Most flavors of VNC actually prevnt this from happening. I think that

You mean: The title bar of VNC Viewer? There is no menu entry to save

it can be done if you set empty password in the VNC server properties. But
this is a huge security hole.
It's also possible to pass password to a vncviewer.exe using /password
