Well...I have emailed several times the last few days and I finally found out why I
couldn't get VNC to work...Birch Telcom, my ISP, blocks the ports that VNC uses.

The cable modem end most likely has a firewall either hardware or
software (Windows XP SP2 has a firewall, NAV2005 has a firewall...)

The Options item in the tray icon isn't accessible except to Administrators,
under NT/2K/XP/2K3. Under Windows 95/98/Me the Options item can be disabled
by adding the DisableOptions DWORD to the registry, and setting it to zero.

Damion,
We don't support hiding of the tray icon, since there's no real need to do
so and it raises all manner of privacy issues...

Is there any info on the timeline for the upcoming release of the VNC
Server Enterprise Edition for Unix?
Are any of you using the Enterprise Edition on Windows? Liking it?

Guys,
We do tend to concentrate on writing the software, fixing bugs in it, adding

ensure your dynamic dns is updated when your IP changes. I've been
using both for quite some time now and couldn't live without them.

You could always "nominate" that as a FAQ in the "faq.gotomyvnc.com" page...
They *do* take suggestions there.

I'm not sure I understand the second paragraph of your first message
about the ports. But I put everything back to 5900/5800 anyway.
Are you referring to the Windows hosts file? I thought that affected
outgoing connections. I am using a custom hosts file from

Is that for the webserver, or the vncviewer?
Still no such luck on the java side. What's odd is that it appears at

Michael,
Have you modified the "Hosts" setting at all?
A common cause of problems is that people delete all the settings from
Hosts, which (for safety) locks out all incoming connections.

Michael,
If you are running the server on port 7900 then you'll need to specify
something like ::7900 in the Connection Details dialog.
Also be aware that the server tells the Java Viewer which port it is serving
