Hi,
Does anybody use RF remote control with VDR instead of IR? How to configure
such remotes?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I need to have a possibility to build VDR plugins using headers which are
different then in VDR distribution. Does somebody knows
how to do it?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks a lot, Dieter, for your solution. It seems very useful. Especially
when VDR installed from the package and not from the sources. But I don't
understand clearly how to run your script? What parameters should be passed
there? Just keyword plugins? And where in should be run? From the building
Tried to replace include/vdr and include/libsi by headers from the vdr-dev
in the Makefile:
include-dir:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] -p include/vdr
-@(cd include/vdr; for i in ../../*.h; do ln -fs $$i .; done)
[EMAIL PROTECTED] -p include/libsi
-@(cd include/libsi; for i in ../../libsi/*.h; do ln -fs $$i .;
Check if your DVB card is recognized correctly by system:
- check /dev/dvb
- see dmesg | grep -i dvb
Also, you can use command femon to see if the signal level is ok.
I use following command to scan:
scan -o vdr -p -x 0 0130.ini > channels.conf

IMHO nVidia Ion is much better option. Especially for HDTV.

Hi Timothy,
You may try LinuxMCE - http://linuxmce.com, which includes VDR, MythTV and
now Hulu :) Or you can try XBMC+VDR

DR and XBMC using
streamdev plugin -
http://blog.mymediasystem.net/avchd/xbmc-on-karmic-with-vdpau-and-vdr/ There
is also another way without streamdev, which is better as people talk.

If we're starting to talk about media players then Popcorn Hour can be used
as VDR client - http://smart-home-blog.com/archives/1344

VDR client for Popcorn Hour -

the same approach can be used with Xtreamer as well.

Does somebody use it to watch HD channels with VDR? As I understand that
solution can give the same result as nVidia Ion?

HI Daniele,
You need DVB card with CI interface + CAM module for appropriate encrypt
system. For example:
- Technotrend S2-3200 HDTV-S2 + Budget-CI -
http://www.dvbshop.net/product_info.php/info/p103_Technotrend-S2-3200-HDTV-S2---Budget-CI---TT-Viewer.html
- Technotrend Budget PCI CI -

Hi Klaus,
Could you tell me, please, are you planning to add support of MPEG4 to
VDR? It's good front-end for HTPC but era of HDTV is coming. So,
people need it.
Thanks in advance.
