i have similar issues with the live frontend. i can't say if always but
surely certain timers won't be even searched (log review). The solution
i have found is that after a restart of the vdr instance the timers will
be searched, found and activated correctly.

Do you have a file called epgsearch.conf inside the folder
/etc/vdr/plugins/epgsearch or /var/lib/vdr/plugins/epgsearch. If not
create one with touch epgsearch.conf and set the correct permission
chown vdr:vdr epgsearch.conf. Chech also if you have a file called
epgsearchdone.data. I use the epgsea

Yes I have.. And I managed to fix that problem.. Error mixing yavdr and
ubuntu?!?
From somewhere (I don't know where) /etc/init.d/vdr script sat
--port=2001 (even SVDRP_PORT was not set anywhere) but still at
/etc/vdr/setup.conf epgsearch.SVDRPPort = 6419
