It actually can be enabled (errors only) during compilation.
See help on compiling vpopmail.

I tried testing this before. What I did was to create the
domain in an ordinary manner. Then moved that domain dir to
where I wanted it to reside then made a link to that dir. Works
normally.

Check if you have other imap daemons running on your server.
Try telnetting to 127.0.0.1 port 143. If you receive a reply
then you have a daemon using port 143.

If forwarding is what you mean, then you may use the .qmail option in the
user's homedir. If you have a default installation, you may create a .qmail
file in
/var/vpopmail/domains///
which contains the addresses that they want the messages forwarded to, 1
address per line. For example, your .q
You may want to put a .qmail file in the user's homedir containing both
email addresses. With that in place, emails to that account will be sent to
the contents of the .qmail file.
You may also use aliases.
