cert using:
"%JAVA_HOME%\bin\keytool" -genkey -alias tomcat -

please do the following:
- remove (rename) your catalina.out and try to start Tomcat with
/etc/init.d/tomcat5 start (or whatever name your startup-script has)
After that, the log-file should hopefully be a bit shorter.

IIRC, this may be due to msvcr71.
I've installed the Java Software (jre1.6.0_03) and Tomcat 5.5 on my Windows
XP computer. When I try to start the service I get an error message that
