Hi cris,
how does this RequestDispatcher.forward() work? I would have to generate a new
HttpServletRequest and Response myself and send it to my Servlet URL, how
could this be done? Is it guaranteed to be received by the same servlet
instance?

try using lsof to check which files or network connections (also counts) you
have opened.

i have the following problem here:
If the used database is not available at startup of the servlet, the
initialization should be aborted and the servlet should be in a
stopped state to be able to start it again if the database is
available again.
