For running on Windows, 5.8.8 is highly recommended. 5.6.1 can work, but
it is rather unstable. Can't really comment on what ru

But 5.8.8 is the workhorse of the day...

From the README file:
Perl 5.6.1 or a later version is required.

Greetings,
I am just wondering...
Is there a standard perl version or versions that the SA team aspires to and
uses as a baseline or some sort?
If so, is it the 5.8.8 or newer or ???
Thanks!

I've been running SA on 5.6.1, but I'm building a new FreeBSD box and its
"prefered" version is 5.8. I noticed that in the SA docs, it mentions
performance problems with 5.8.
FreeBSD has version 5.6.2 in ports, but I seem to recall that one
shouldn't use perl versions that ended in even numbers,
BTW: Just FYI, back to the sa-stats.pl that comes with sa-3.04, I found on
the FBSD-4.11x server that I had to upgrade to perl-5.8.7 to get the script
to run. Perl-5.6.2 gave errors and aborted, although not zeros as others
report.
After installing 5.8.7, it runs fine. My other servers use FBSD-5.
