I'm currently using the spamassassin version from sarge-backports. I
have not encountered any issues but I have also based my setup on this
excellent how-to: http://www200.pair.com/mecham/spam/ the author
provides a very thorough explanation.

I just installed SA 3.0 on RH 3.0, inside my local.cf file I have the

rewrite_subject 1
rewrite_header Subject SPAM:
is this the right way to modify the subject of all tagged messages
as spam for 3.0?
In the past using SA 2.64 I used
subject_tag SPAM:
