The file https://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/attachment/12861461/test-tiling-pattern.pdf in PDFBOX-3729 might reproduce the problem with a real printer. I couldn't reproduce it with the Windows PDF and XPS printers. 7 years ago I could reproduce it with the CIB PDF brewer but I no longer have
