To the OP question, when you set up a gluster storage domain, you need to
specify backup-volfile-servers=: where server2 and
server3 also have bricks running. When server1 is down, and the volume is
mounted again - server2 or server3 are queried to get the gluster volfiles.
@Jim, if this does not
You could try to enable the config option for the 4.1 cluster level - using
engine-config tool from the Hosted Engine VM. This will require a restart
of the engine service and will enable gfapi access for all clusters at 4.1
level though - so try this option if this is acceptable.

If you only want to upgrade the engine to oVirt 3.5.1 - you don't need
to upgrade the gluster nodes. I understand that your gluster node

What is the type of volume that you've created? Is it a replicate volume?

If you're replicating the volume across 3 nodes, even when one of the

Is the ovirt repo configured as well as on the 2 gluster servers?
ovirt-engine requires vdsm-gluster to communicate to gluster. Please
check if vdsm-gluster can be installed on these servers

I'm not very familiar with oVirt Storage Domain ,so someone from the
oVirt storage team should be able to guide you further.

We ran into the same issue yesterday...The call to backup database seems
to be causing this.
engine_setup.py still uses the old method call and not the changed one
as per http://gerrit.ovirt.org/10548.

Hi Alastair,
This could be a mismatch in the hostname identified in ovirt and gluster.
You could check for any exceptions from GlusterSyncJob in engine.log.
Also, what version of ovirt are you using. And the compatibility version
of your cluster?
