After using the word processing component of OO for some time without
issue, I'm now re-trying to use the DATABASE component. Although I now
have Sierra on my Macbook, this function has never worked on other OS
versions either.
After saving my new database file on the desk top I get this

Whether you realise it or not, you "accessed" Apache via an untrusted
source. Whoever it was conned you into paying. Retrace your steps and try
to contact them again for, eg your money back.

Highlight file icon in folder (or whole folder), select ‘get info’ in drop
down file menu at top of finder screen. At bottom there’s a permissions
option (you might have to enter password to unlock) where you can allocate
‘read only’ or ‘write and read’.

I found OO for Mac recently through a simple google search (sure it was on
the OO's own website) and it works absolutely fine - so far!
